Pixar Studio
Pixar studio is the leader in the film industry when it comes to making wonderful computer animated programs that people flock to the movies to watch and collect on video as soon as they come out. Pixar was purchased by Walt Disney Company in 2006 making the collaboration a monopoly in the world of computer animation.
This almost didn't take place though as a previous contract with the two companies didn't work out well in 2004. Pixar was working on a short 60 minute release (now known as Toy Store II) that was to be for video only. However Disney decided they wanted it to be a full length film because they were so impressed with the animation for it.
Some of the various films Pixar has contributed to include Cars, Toy Store I and II, and Finding Nemo. Each of them has been a money making hit both in terms of the movies and the collectibles that have been sold. It seems like as soon as one of these shows starts being advertised children of all ages want the various toys, blankets, cups, and more than are related to the show.
Pixar credits their success to having a vision of computer animated characters that goes far beyond what was traditionally available in the field. Each character was given an in depth personality and various abilities that humans could relate to. It is this common theme that has lead adults to be as impressed with Pixar movies as their children.
They employ only the brightest and most creative individuals in the industry. Each person has to undergo training at the Pixar University so that they get a basic overview of the company and a detailed education on the world of computer animation from the Pixar point of view. There are a total of 110 courses that have to be completed over a sixteen week period. This allows each person on the Pixar team to be cross trained in a variety of different areas.
Pixar also believes that their company should continue to evolve and grow. They welcome new concepts, thoughts, and ideas from those who work for them. It doesn't matter if that person's role is to take out the garbage or a chief executive. Pixar has a very friendly employee oriented atmosphere and believes the majority of their amazing productions comes from allowing employees the ability to freely express themselves.
Today's Tip On Computer Animation
Although similar in some ways to 2D animations, 3D computer animation is a different process, as a scene being done in 3D is created long before any actual animation begins. Even in general terms, most people automatically think 3D when they are speaking or reading about computer animation, partly due to its flexibility.
